Excellent presentation of arguments for the existence of God, the divinity of Jesus Christ, and the accuracy of the scriptures. Peter Kreeft is a Boston College professor that presents his arguments in a text-book fashion. I took one star away due to the complexity of some of his arguments. Perhaps, a philosophy teacher would add a star for the complexity. If you are looking for a layman's entry into apologetics, this probably isn't the book for you. However, if you want something a little deeper, this may be what you are seeking. I gave it to my nephew, and we are working through it now.

This book is written in a particularly useful format: each argument exists independently of the others. Because of that, the reader may school themselves on a particular argument such as the existence of God, and thoroughly assimilate its points, and use them in "real life", before studying other arguments and using them. In other words, the book is broken down into chapters that are useful, in and of themselves.It helps to have some knowledge of the terminology of philosophy and debate to get the most from this book.

Professor Keeft has published the definitive handbook for Apologetics. Having a MA in Theology from Vanderbilt and been a high-school theology teacher, I have read dozens of apologetics texts, both ancient and modern. None compare to this compendium. Kreeft refines and articulates both modern and classical arguments. If you own only one apologetics book, make sure it is this one.

I have absolutely loved this 'handbook'. It is so intelligently and logically written, and demands repeated reading so that I can soak all of the knowledge in. I reads more like a book of solid Biblical Doctrine than a "apologetics for dummies' primer. But I highly highly recommend it. It is so good I loaned my first copy to a friend and never got it back, so I had to buy it again. The "Proofs for God" chapter is worth the cover price.

I can not complain about the content of this book. Kreeft is an excellent apologist in my opinion and this book covers a lot of ground in apologetics. However, it is much better suited to a Catholic high school theology class than to an evening read at home by a middle aged man. The format includes an outline at the beginning of each chapter and study questions at the end. Useful for students but I tended to skip over them.

Peter Kreeft has laid all the arguments in a logical sequence for defending the faith. Many references from which to obtain further knowledge of why we believe. Kreeft uses simple philosophical argument laid out in terms the layperson can easily understand. He shows both sides of the argument; explains why modernists, atheists, and unbelievers arguments fall flat and are a falsehood hoisted upon the less knowledgeable of the world. Best book on apologetics ever! A handy reference guide which I will refer to often and re-read often!

This is a great book for the beginning believer to help them understand many of the questions they may have about their faith and salvation. For the seasoned believer this book is a great reference book to help them in answering questions from non-believers and new believers they are trying to help in their walk. I used this book to give me a stronger background in my testimony and when questioned about my faith it gives me a place to pull Biblical references to strengthen my position based on Biblical statement and not just my interpretation of the Bible. This is a great book to pass on to those new to the religious life.

I keep looking for excuses to leave the faith, but this book, along with the Catechism, keep me from doing so. What I love about Catholicism is that everything has an answer. And I mean literally everything. If you truly take the time to search for an answer (because I guarantee there is one), then you will find yourself always coming back to the Catholic church. Excellent arguments and responses (literally, "apologies") are expressed in this book. I recommend for anyone looking to either defend their faith or thinking about joining a faith based on reason and logic.

The file he sent via dropbox was huge. My computer gave me a few bells and whistles, warning me with a couple of red flags about it. I proceeded to do some computer scans and “poof,” it disappeared, without any trouble to my computer whatsoever.Laureau is a photographer (an older man), specializing in nudity. Young women model for him. In Living Nude Statues, he poses them in the buff, then body paints them and poses them in different settings - on a vintage car, in front of an old brick building or window with curtains blowing wispily around them. I enjoy looking at sculpture and believe that statues are best placed outdoors where they can be part of the living environment.This art photography book takes live models, asks them to pose in the images of statues in museums all over the world, then by means of digital wizardry transforms the ladies into statues. To do this, the models posed in front of green screens. A technical expert then used either stone effect or bronze effect to alter their bodies; a background was added which could be a room, a staircase, the outdoors or a fantasy setting. The results are interesting and quirky, sometimes spectacular.While I'm not used to looking at so much nude female flesh, it's clear that the ladies are celebrating their beauty and strength. They are all from Arizona and must have enjoyed this unusual feature of life imitating art which is imitating life.

By learning and understanding the basic theory as Beard presents it enables you to become more aware of the varied nuances and subtle flavors that can make such a difference!The title is accurate as James Beard teaches the fundamentals of every cooking technique, beginning with an explanation of the technique; how, why and when to use it and then offers recipes from very basic to more advanced and with variations.Over the years I have given away many of my cookbooks as the internet provides so much with just a click, but before I hit the web, I check this book first and usually can find the answers and a fabulous recipe.

I bought this book in the mid '70's or so... And it literally changed my life. This is not so much a cookbook but rather a "how to" cookbook. This book started my cooking life and I am heartbroken that it is no longer in print. But you can get a good used edition at Amazon!

About 25 years ago they did a mass reissue of Theory and Practice of Good Cooking for $9.00 since this is my absolute top indispensable book I bought a dozen for future wedding presents. My eight year old son needless to say already had his own copy that he had requested.I have given those away I thought at the time judiciously but may "have cast pearls before a few before swine". Wish I had a dozen more. That book is the absolute first and best resource, plus it is also enjoyable to browse or read outright, I now have all of James Beard's cookbooks I think unless some more obscure ones pop up and yes so does my son. They are all priceless resources and still provide hours of inspiration and enjoyment. Beard on Bread is another top favorite. Vive James Beard!

This is one of the basic cookbooks that should be in every library. James Beard could communicate the joy of making good food for friends and family like no one else, and this is one of his best books. A delight to read, and the recipes are excellent. My collection of cookbooks exceeds 1500 different volumes and this is one of the very best.

This is our first "go to" cookbook basically our cooking bible. I have given away dozen of these as wedding presents over the years. My grand daughter got hers at age 10. James Beard has never written a bad recipe. We have all his cookbooks.

Great book for beginning to intermediate home cooks. Worthwhile to round out a Beard library. And a great reference work for writing or working chefs.

I sent this book as a gift to my grandson who aspires to be a chef one day. James Beard is a great foundational read and resource as he strives to reach his goal. This particular book, according to my grandson, arrived within the promised time and is in excellent condition. I am so pleased!

I read this years ago -- a friend's copy -- and just picked it up on my Kindle not so much to use it (although there are probably things I need to re-learn and can refer to) but for the sheer enjoyment of re-reading Beard.I just love his writing and his practical applied sensuality in his craft and art. It's immersive by extension.I feel I love the culinary arts in many of the same ways although I'll never be a professional. I am an amateur in the older sense.

I love the humanity of this book. Yes, there is a central traumatic event at its heart, and it does a beautiful job of handling that event with clarity and honesty. But what's really brilliant about this story is that it recognizes that even the biggest heartbreaks are just single pieces of a much bigger picture and that what matters most is how you deal with all those pieces and find a way to reconcile them with the bigger picture of your life. I was deeply impressed by the author's ability to create a main character who grows out of numbness and denial as self-preservation strategies and learns to confront and deal with the most troubling memories and realities that haunt herself and her family. She does this by relying on her friends, building new relationships and believing in her family. In the end she's a better, bigger person and I felt like I was too for having read her story. It's a rare novel that can make you feel that way, so I recommend this one to everybody.

I'm a proud dad of a freaking awesome daughter who wrote this book and it is freaking awesome also.

This book was just so beautiful and so real. I found myself rooting for the main character all the way as she navigated the devastation of being left by her boyfriend at the fertility clinic where she'd gone for an abortion. I loved the technique of using abortion aftercare instructions themselves as chapter openers, and the clever way each related to the plot, as well as the alternating-timeframe chapters between past and present. We need more books that deal with teen pregnancy and abortion in a way that's nuanced, non-judgmental, and most of all real. Pipkin does so unflinchingly, and with characters you can't help connecting to.

What an incredible book. Gen was so real and relatable, I found myself confused and conflicted right along with her. Don't let the abortion issue put you off. Pipkin never makes a judgment about right or wrong, but leaves it up to the reader. More than anything, this is a powerful book about love, loss, betrayal, family, grief, and ultimately, finding one's identity in a world of conflict, hard decisions, and challenge. The backstory is brilliantly handled. There novel is nuanced and well developed. I can't wait to see what Pipkin writes next!

Bonnie Pipkin IS an extraordinary writer. This, her first novel, is timely, and will not disappoint. It's a "can't put it down" novel . Buy it. Read it. Pass that copy along to someone new. A beautifully written story about a girl who seems to lose everything only to find that in doing so, she finds: herself, a new love, and a reconnection with her past.Loved it and highly recommend.

I love this story and the main character, Genesis, a relatable girl who's doing the best she can under some pretty heavy emotional weight. The inserts of script formatting with its sparse, direct dialogue work well to move the reader through a heavy story at a fairly quick pace.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It ended kinda weird to me. I would like for there to be a part two (if it isn't one already) because I would like to know what happens to the characters.
