its a alright book. the fashion pages are interesting and look intricate. the pages are perferated so you can tear them out if you want. i like that most of the girls have short hair and look fantasy oriented.
Very odd... some of the dresses in this book don't even look like dresses and many of the girls that are wearing them do not have legs... it just looks like an upper body with a drawing attached to it.... I don't like to be too hard on a coloring book.. but - I found many of the pictures in this book to be down right awkward and un-real looking.
YET ANOTHER INCREDIBLE OFFERING FROM CREATIVE HAVEN, ART NUVEAU FASHIONS WILL SURPRISE YOU. FIRST OF ALL, THE FASHIONS ARE NOT ART NUVEAU, THE ART WORK AROUND THE RICH YOUNG WOMEN IS THE ART NUVEAU OF THE BOOK.THE FASHIONS ARE VERY DETAILED, AS OTHER REVIEWERS HAVE BEEN SO KIND AS TO SHOW. THIS IS NOT A COLORING BOOK FOR A YOUNG CHILD. I'M 57 AND I AM A BIT INTIMIDATED.THE REALLY FANTASTIC PART OF THE FASHIONS, IS THAT THERE IS NO WHERE NEAR THE AMT OFBLACK INK' IN THE FASHIONS' DRAWINGS. MANY WILL UNDERSTAND THIS FROM PURCHASING COLORING BOOKS WITH OTHER ARTISTS WHO WILL FILL IN ALL THE LACEY DETAILS WITH TONS OF BLACK INK, LEAVING NOTHING TO THE IMAGINATION OF THE COLORIST. THANK YOU MS. SUN FOR DRAWING THESE SO WELL, WITHOUT FILLING EVERY INCH OF LACE WITH HEAVY BLACK LINES.THIS REALLY SHOULD BE PURCHASED BY THEADVANCED COLORIST, YET I HAD TO HAVE THIS BOOK! ENJOY
This is most likely my favorite coloring book so far. I purchased this same book for my adult daughter for Christmas and loved it so much that I just had to have one for myself. It is filled with beautiful frilly dresses, lovely ladies and pretty flowers all with the look of yesteryear. There are lots of very small details in each picture so if you use markers I would recommend those with "ultra fine" points for these areas. I like to use markers where I want rich, dark color and colored pencils for areas that I want to look more sheer. Pencils are also great for skin tone and highlights in hair. Once again I have to commend Creative Haven for leaving the back of each page blank so you don't have to worry about bleed through ruining the next picture. However, as a precaution I do insert a sheet of printer/copying paper behind the page I am coloring to catch any dark colors that might come through. The only problem I have found with this book is that each page is so beautiful it's hard to decide which one you want to color each time you pick it up.:)
I love coloring Ming-Ju Sun's fashion design coloring books. Whether it be historical in nature or fantasy, such as this, her fashion designs are beautiful and a fun challenge to color. This is a set of all new designs and, to me, there is a distinct modern Asian flair to many of the drawings. The fantasy in these designs are in cut and “texture†of the intricacy of the fashion prints rather than in some other-worldly sense of fantasy. These are the dresses you might see as an experimental fashion on a runway or being worn by a known trend-setter.The designs are detailed and most have small and intricate details to color. These intricate areas are generally the detail within the clothing. I've found that sharp point pencils and ultra-fine point (or brush end) markers work well for these areas. Each fashion design is surrounded by some form of background (generally flowers) to give a more balanced look to the page. This is what I experienced when coloring in this book and testing my coloring medium on the paper.31 beautiful and intricate fantasy fashion designs by Ming-Ju SunPrinted on one side of the pagePaper is medium weight, white, lightly rough and perforatedGlue bound but pages can be removed easily at perforations.Designs stop before the perforations. There is a framing line at the outer edges of each design for a more finished look. Some portions of the design extend slightly beyond the framing line for an almost 3D effect. The book opens fairly flat by creasing/breaking the spine.Alcohol and water based markers bleed through to some degreeGel pens and India ink pens leave shadows of color on the back of the pageColoring pencils work well with this paper. Both wax and oil based pencils lay down good color, layer (same and different colors) and blend well using a pencil style blending stick. Hard lead pencils leave dents on the back of the page.I remove pages or use a blotter page of card stock or several sheets of heavyweight paper to keep ink and dents from marring the pages below.
Good quality, not lame as some are. Pages are only printed on one side so ink would bleed through and ruin a picture on the back page. One thing I hadn't noticed when I previewed it through LOOK INSIDE is that there are lot of birds and dogs in the pages. If you are not good at colouriog those, or don't like colouring them, this is a definite drawback. I may scan the dog pages and erase them in the photo editing program.
Ibd9nt see the fantasy element of this coloring book. It's a book featuring dresses made from floral design cloths. As for the dresses themselves very much a continuation of the illustrators are decorated fashion. The designs are beautiful, I was expecting something, and I most definitely did not get it.
These are beautiful drawings and I love the many color combination possibilities
This is a great coloring book,I love it. Will have awonderful time coloring all the Fantasy Fashios. I love the Creative Haven Coloring Books. They are my favorite coloring books.
